Celebrating National Older Workers Employment Week

Some of the strongest talent in our communities has spent decades learning how to lead, adapt, solve problems and get the job done.

From Sept. 21 through 25, 2026, the Pinellas County Urban League will celebrate National Older Workers Employment Week with #PowerOf55, a weeklong campaign highlighting the experience, capability and workforce potential of adults 55 and older.

We are coming with training, career preparation, digital skill-building, real participant stories and partnerships that create pathways back into the workforce.

The week begins with a two-day Enrollment Bootcamp designed to welcome new Urban Seniors Jobs Program participants and help them identify their professional strengths, transferable skills and readiness for today’s digital workplace. On Wednesday, Social Media Day will spotlight participant experiences, USJP successes and the host agencies helping turn training into meaningful opportunities.

On Thursday, the Jobs Club Career and Resource Fair will bring career support and community resources to two locations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The week will close on Friday with an online recap recognizing the participants, host agencies, partners and sponsors who helped bring National Older Workers Employment Week to life.

Throughout the week, community members can expect participant success stories, behind-the-scenes videos, workplace readiness insights, host agency features and information about the resources available through USJP.

The Urban Seniors Jobs Program provides subsidized, service-based training, supportive services and skills development to help eligible adults successfully re-enter the workforce. Participants must be 55 or older, low-income and currently unemployed. The program serves residents of Pasco, Hernando, Lake, Seminole, Sumter and Marion counties.

For more information, call 727-327-2081, Ext. 416 or email usjp-eligibility@pcul.org.

Experience is ready. Opportunity should be too.
