Who We Are
The Pinellas County Urban League has been serving the community for over 43 years. The agency's mission is to help African-Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true socialparityeconomic self- reliance, power, and civil rights. The League promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life.
We accomplish this by providing programs that enhance personal growth skills, job readiness training, financial literacy education, entrepreneurship development opportunities, civic engagement initiatives, and a variety of other services that meet the needs of hardworking families.

After the tragic loss of our beloved President & CEO, Reverend Watson L. Haynes, II has stayed committed to continuing the Pinellas County Urban League mission. The PCUL serves thousands of families in Pinellas County and 24 municipalities each year.
We are seeking a seasoned senior executive to serve as the chief administrator responsible to the Board of Directors/Trustees; demonstrates the ability to develop, articulate, and communicate the vision of the Affiliate; provides leadership to the organization, administering its functions and operations; assists in the development of short- and long-range objectives; acts as principal spokesperson, and in conjunction with the Board Chair, generate new ideas and leads through completion; initiates and maintains relationships with staff, board, political, corporate and community leaders; keeps abreast of issues facing the African-American and minority community; establishes agenda items and outlines each into action items for completion; forms a disciplined approach to achieving goals and objectives; and engages in dialogue across race, gender, sexual orientation, economic, and other differences.

The Pinellas County Urban League will host the 9th Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Empowerment Luncheon on Friday, February 17th, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Banquet Masters, 13355 ~ 49th Street North, Clearwater, Florida.
We are happy to be giving the first Reverend Watson L. Haynes, II Youth & Education Scholarship Award.
"Reverend Haynes was an education advocate deeply committed to student achievement. The Haynes family wanted to ensure the continuation of his advocacy for youth through the creation of the Reverend Watson L. Haynes, II scholarship fund to assist students in furthering their education."
The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Luncheon is held in honor of the former National Urban League leader, who for many years, led the Urban League into a position of significant power and influence throughout the world by helping thousands of people struggling against discrimination. This luncheon has become the Pinellas County Urban League’s anchor event in celebration of Black History Month.
Our Services

Economic Development
We assist our job-seeking clients to obtain their goals by providing assessments and goal setting, career counseling, employability skills training, financial fitness training, resumes, technical training, certifications, career fairs, job search, resources, and wrap-around services.

Health
One of the key objectives of the Pinellas County Urban League has been to improve health outcomes for Black people and other people of color in Pinellas County through the elimination of longstanding health inequities. We believe in access to affordable healthcare Our ACA Navigators are here to help you "Navigate Your Heath Care".

Education
Personal Development is vital to the overall success of youth and families served by the Youth & Family Services Department. In order to assist our clients in achieving success, we offer Educational Achievement, Leadership Skills, Social & Character Building, and Financial Literacy programs and services.

Housing Services
Provide safe, affordable, clean, and efficient housing. Build strong collaborations with partner agencies that provide homeowner assistance and other housing services. We also offer weatherization services to promote energy efficiency. Our clients can also apply for Utility Assistance.
