We serve job seekers and partner with employers and agencies throughout Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay area to build the local workforce and expand the economy.

We have 4 main goals in serving job seekers:

  1. Increase knowledge in career readiness and financial literacy 

  2. Obtain industry certifications

  3. Assist with job placement

  4. Increase wages/ income

 

We assist our job-seeking clients to obtain the aforementioned goals by providing:

  • Assessment and Goal setting

  • Career Counseling

  • Employability Skills Training

  • Financial Fitness Training

  • Resumes

  • Technical Training

  • Certifications

  • Career Fairs

  • Job Search

  • Resources 

  • Wrap-Around Referrals

 

We collaborate with employers by:

  • Advertising

  • Posting Jobs,

  • Hosting career fairs and information sessions

  • Recruiting and prescreening qualified candidates

  • Assisting with Diversity and Inclusion goals

  • Providing Technical Training.

Serious Business Academy

The Serious Business Academy is a program that targets entrepreneurs and other minority small  businesses operating in the Tampa Bay Area with several (FREE) resources that include but are not limited to:

  • Business Plans & Start-up

  • Sun Biz Registration/ EIN

  • Marketing & Expansion

  • Tax Preparation

  • Loan Facilitation

  • MBE, WMBE certification education

  • Financial Reporting

  • Quick Books

  • Business Credit

  • Banking Relationships

  • Credit Education

  • Micro Grants (availability may vary)

 

Businesses are assessed and categorized into three different levels. After an assessment, businesses are provided with group training, individual coaching, and opportunities to increase their knowledge and resources for growth.

Financial Fitness is a value-add service provided across all PCUL programs. Participants are given valuable information in order to improve their knowledge and implementation of financial literacy strategies. Financial Fitness educates and provides residents throughout Pinellas County with financial literacy resources in the areas of saving, budgeting, credit, and asset building. The goals of this service include:

 

  • Increase Knowledge (Pre/Post Testing Mandatory)

  • Develop a budget

  • Become bankable/ Open a savings account

  • Save $1000 minimum

  • Become aware of Credit Reporting and credit improvement techniques
