For the first time the Pinellas County Urban League was pleased to honor its late Director of Youth & Family Services, Randolph Lewis, by awarding a scholarship to a deserving local high school graduate. On August 8, 2016 Ashley Aquil was awarded the "Randolph Lewis Scholarship Award". Ashley Aquil is a 17 year old freshman attending Florida State University, majoring in interdisciplinary medical sciences. She graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 2016 as 21st in a class of over 300 students with a GPA of 4.3 and an ACT score of 31. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and secretary of both the French and Social Studies Honor Society, in addition to being part of the Medical Magnet program at Boca Ciega. Ashley also worked part time for three years for the City of St. Petersburg's Parks and Recreation Department with Teen Arts Sports and Cultural Opportunities (TASCO). An avid volunteer, she plans to continue her community service in Tallahassee. She aspires to have a career in medicine, more specifically, obstetrics.
