Whitney M Young, Jr. Empowerment Luncheon

The Pinellas County Urban League will host the 9th Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr.  Empowerment Luncheon on Friday, February 17th, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Banquet Masters, 13355 ~ 49th Street North, Clearwater, Florida. 

We are happy to present the 1st Reverend Watson L. Haynes, II Youth & Education Scholarship Award.

"Reverend Haynes was an education advocate deeply committed to student achievement. The Haynes family wanted to ensure the continuation of his advocacy for youth through the creation of the Reverend Watson L. Haynes, II scholarship fund to assist students in furthering their education."

The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Luncheon is held in honor of the former National Urban League leader, who for many years, led the Urban League into a position of significant power and influence throughout the world by helping thousands of people struggling against discrimination. This luncheon has become the Pinellas County Urban League’s anchor event in celebration of Black History Month.

There are several excellent opportunities for businesses and individuals to participate. Funds generated from the event will go directly to support the Pinellas County Urban League’s programs that are needed to assist the underprivileged in our community.

The Pinellas County Urban League is celebrating its 46th year of IMPACT in the Tampa Bay community. Our services include GED completion, career readiness, job placement, small business, youth leadership and mentorship, crime prevention and family reunification, physical and mental health, seniors' job training, utility payments, and home weatherization assistance.
