Message from the PCUL Leadership

Welcome to the Pinellas County Urban League's web site. We are looking forward to 2012 with anxious anticipation toward growing our reach and enhancing our service base throughout Tampa Bay and the West Central Florida area.

The Pinellas County Urban League is committed to working with the underserved and disadvantaged of our community. Our synergy is directed toward building bridges between desire and opportunity; bridges between preparation and opportunity; bridges between growth and opportunity. The Pinellas County Urban League seeks to work with the entire community in building bridges to a fair and equal quality of life for everyone living or visiting our growing service area.

The focus of the Pinellas County Urban League is directed through the passionate planning and coordinated work of the staff, Board of Directors and auxiliaries. If you can picture our team of staff, Directors and auxiliaries working together on the construction of bridges leading to quality of life opportunities throughout the region; then you can certainly picture yourself working with the Urban League every step of the way.

Every plank, every rivet, every piece of structural product and person involved in Building Bridges with the Pinellas County Urban League will be of the highest quality. Our work, supplies and products will be second to none in making a difference in the lives of those seeking a better quality of life.

We have been on this journey since 1978. We have touched the lives of thousands of people in Pinellas County and seek to make a difference to many more for years into the future. We work daily to see if there are new services and programs we can offer or bundle our services to make a greater difference in the lives of those we serve. For example: You may seek assistance with your delinquent electric bill and have your blood pressure checked while waiting and also have a conversation with our Employment Counselor regarding career and/or job opportunities that could assist your entire household with the right job.

This is our Empowerment Agenda we plan to initiate for 2012 and beyond. As we kick off our 2012 agenda, we leave you with this thought depicting purpose and the foundation for why we do what we do: "We realize that our future lies chiefly in our own hands. We know that neither institutions nor friends can make a race stand unless it has strength in its own foundation."
