LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program)

Provides energy-payment assistance on behalf of low-income individual and families who meet the program's eligibility requirements. Three categories of assistance are available. (1) Home energy assistance pay a State designated portion of eligible client's utility bill directly of the utility company (2) Crisis assistance pay the client's actual utility bill up to $400.00 or other emergency expenses. (3) A weather related or supply shortage crisis program may be instituted upon the declaration or order by the Department of Community Affairs, Governor or President that a crisis or emergency exists.
